Fire Protection Covers: EXTICOV®-CCF™ and EXTICOV®-LHD®
SANERGRID® ERT® and TRT®-LHD fire-resistant containment pits are equipped at the top with innovative fire protection systems tested by independent laboratories.
EXTICOV®-CCF™ is a single-slope fire-rated flap cover made of galvanized steel. The flaps guide and accelerate the flow of burning hydrocarbons into the containment pit. Covered with anti-slip gratings, they ensure safe pedestrian access.
EXTICOV®-LHD® is a fire-rated grating solution. These two-in-one gratings, combining fire resistance and anti-slip properties, are designed using PcP technology, providing high mechanical strength and perfect suitability for demanding industrial environments.
Instant flame suppression by oxygen deprivation
These passive solutions ensure rapid capture of burning hydrocarbons and near-immediate flame suppression through oxygen deprivation. By neutralizing two elements of the fire triangle — heat and the oxidizer — they prevent fire propagation and reduce temperature rise inside the containment pit.

Prevention of Hydrocarbon Pool Fires Under Transformers
Designed to replace traditional gravel or pebble beds, SANERGRID® fire-resistant containment basins provide passive fire protection for MV and HV oil-filled transformers.
Their innovative design acts effectively from the very first minutes on the phenomenon known as a “hydrocarbon pool fire,” while ensuring full regulatory and environmental compliance.
Operation of ERT® and TRT®-LHD Fire Suppression Basins
ERT® and TRT®-LHD basins operate on the same passive safety principle: SANERGRID containment systems are equipped with fire-resistant covers. In the event of burning oil discharge, hydrocarbons are directed beneath fire-resistant shutters or gratings, where oxygen is deprived and combustion is almost instantly extinguished.
This simple, robust and autonomous technology requires no electrical power supply and no mechanical maintenance. Regular cleaning is sufficient to ensure proper operation of the fire-resistant covers.
